When I attended a conference in Szczecin in 2002, I could not have guessed I would met an enthusiastic guy who would definitely change my research and my career. As I finished my talk, Krzysztof came to me and asked if I could use some of my methods to approach his problems. At this time, I had never heard about multidimensional (nD) systems. Later, he visited me in Poitiers, and I visited him in Torun and Zielona Gora. We had joint projects. He introduced me to several of his bright students and colleagues (e.g. Wojciech). Before I could realise what happened, I was involved in the sympathetic nD community in which he was a major character. Now my main research interest is nD models and I will be forever grateful to Krzysztof for that.
Thank you Krzysztof ! I will never forget those little traditional Polish restaurants you made me discover in Torun and Zielona Gora. I express my sincere condolences to your family and you close colleagues.

Its been an excellent journey these past 30 years, research of the highest quality and a very close friendship characterised by `robust\' and sometimes `very loud\' discussion over a vast range of topics. Those that follow us may well improve/better our research results but I will always remember our very close friendship. Rest in peace dear friend.

I am in the group of people who really benefited from working with Krzysztof. He was a person who always shared his cooperation and thanks to him I met many wonderful scientists. In fact, it allowed me to learn about all those developing the theory of multidimensional systems and repetitive processes. Thanks to him, it was possible to visit all these wonderful places in the world where everyone appreciated Krzysztof\'s knowledge, directness and humor.
Thank you very, very much for that and I will always be grateful for it. Without him I couldn\'t have achieved what I have achieved.

It was in year 1998 when I got in contact with Krzysztof the first time. He invited me to organize a session at the first NDS workshop. I admired Krzysztof for his inimitable way of getting young scientists excited about this topic and thus creating an international network of nD enthusiasts. Krzysztof was an innovative scientist and author of a long list of papers and text books. I would like to thank Krzysztof for many years of friendship and the common time. In particular, his time as Mercator visiting professor at my home University has been the basis for a close scientific exchange with him and his group, and numerous joint publications arose from this cooperation. He was always a cheerful person and open to all cultures. Celebrations together and the one glass or another of vodka are also among the lasting memories. Dear Krzysztof, we will miss you. As a believing Catholic, he was always sure of heavenly support and may it accompany him on his future path in another world.

We collaborated with Krzysztof for more than 15 years, and together we obtained and published many interesting results. Krzysztof was much more than collaborator he was a kind, wise and reliable friend to me. I see him in my memory everytime with friendly smile, but the pain is still very great and I often cannot hold back my tears. It is difficult to come to terms with the sudden loss of this wonderful scientist and bright person. There are unfinished joint ideas that our small orphaned team will try to adequately develop and complete and will move on.
Rest in piece dear friend. Peace to your ashes. The bright memory of you will remain in my heart until the end of my days.

I will always remember his impish sense of humour, his warm personality and his entertaining conversation. He always strived to include everybody and involve him or her in every discussion, be it over scientific matters or the merits of Polish vs. Balkan slivovitz.

He was fiercely loyal to and supportive of his past and present students. What a loss for our community: we will miss his deep knowledge and his willingness to share it generously.

I was so sorry to hear the unexpected news of Krzysztof's passing. He was to me a wonderful person and colleague. I first met him at some meetings in the late 1990's through Eric Rogers and as a result I came to understand the multi-dimensional, or nDS, aspects of iterative learning control in a way I did not before. I will always remember the 2nd nDS meeting at Czocha Castle, which I attended with one of my children. It was an amazing experience due to Krzysztof's gracious hospitality. From that time forward he and I corresponded multiple times each year and collaborated, together with Eric, on a few research papers and teaching workshops together. I learned so much from him! I still remember my last conversation with him at the IFAC 2023 closing reception, where we had a nice 30-45-minute talk. I always felt a bit uplifted after talking to Krzysztof, as he was always enthusiastic and happy about the research and any other topic that came up. I will miss him!

In my impression, Prof. Gałkowski is a humorous and witty professor, and always smiles. He invested a great deal of enthusiasm in his research and contributed greatly to especially ILC/DRP. The most recent memory was the IFAC WC 2023 held in Yokohama this year, where he gave a session talk. At the conference banquet, it was also an honor to have a conversation with him and Professor Kevin L. Moore, who remained as humorous and talkative as ever. His passing away was a great loss for the ILC/DRP community.

Professor Gałkowski introduced us to the ILC community over 15 years ago. Since then we have been engaged in joint research in an international team. Krzysztof united and motivated scientists from all over the world. For us, he was not only a collaborator with an infinite dedication to science, but also a good friend who always wished us a Merry Christmas and asked how we were doing. In our memory he will forever remain a bright man with a friendly smile and a subtle sense of humor. We express our deepest condolences to the family.

I am deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Professor Galkowski, I have worked on so many articles written by him and his team and I had the pleasure to discuss with him a couple of times during the past years. He has such deep insight in the field of multidimensional systems and his expertise will be deeply missed. Please accept my sincere condolences.

A true gentleman, Krzysztof was a true scholar, researcher and educator.. It was my pleasure to have known and worked with him. I remember the times that I spent with him in ZG, meeting his family and, on one occasion, walking through the woods to collect mushrooms. I was introduced to Polish cuisine at his home, meeting his wife and, I remember, his dog. Good memories. Rest in peace Krzysztof.

Krzysztof and I first met in 2000 when he visited Hong Kong after a conference in Shanghai. Since then, we worked together on 2D system research, and Krzysztof became my most frequent collaborator in the Western world. Little did I anticipate that our last exchange via email on August 16th this year would mark our final conversation. Krzysztof loved travelling, and we often bumped into each other at conferences. I took great pleasure in introducing him to many academic friends in China. Known for his amiability and cheerful disposition, Krzysztof was an excellent companion. Engaging in conversation with him was always accompanied by laughter, particularly after a few rounds of drinks. His easy-going nature made everyone around him feel comfortable and happy. His passing has left us feeling incredibly sad. Krzysztof, I\'ll never forget your smiling face. It was a pleasure to tread the paths of the 2D domain alongside you. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Dear Krzysztof,

I was shocked to hear the news and could not find the words to describe my feelings. Your name resonates in my thoughts almost every day: I heard your voice when passing by Eric's office, and we greeted each other every so often with your delightful, distinct, and unforgettable voice. MS Teams never won you over, though quite often, you had strange problems with Skype.

We last met in Yokohama in July 2023 during the IFAC World Congress – I had never expected that to be our final meeting.

You will be greatly missed.

I was very surprised to learn that Krzysztof passed away. We became good friends for nearly 20 years. He was a world-renowned pioneer, dedicated to constructing the theoretical framework of learning control and expanding its applications. When we first proposed the 2D repetitive control, he gave us many advice and suggestions that helped us to smoothly complete the framework. We also visited many Universities in China together. He had an amazing capacity for drinking, and when we visited World Heritage Wulingyuan in Hunan, China with his wife, his boozy drinking figure subverted my preconceived notion of an \old man\. In recent years, he has been giving lectures to students and faculty and performing co-research at China Univ. Geosciences every year. This summer, taking advantage of his coming to Tokyo to attend the IFAC World Congress, I also asked him to give a lecture at Tokyo Univ. Tech. I didn\'t expect that he would leave us so suddenly. I hope that he will have a good journey

It was a real shock when I heard that Krzysztof passed away. Krzysztof and I first met more than 20 years ago -- I believe during the European Control Conference in 1999. We\'ve been in contact ever since, and I greatly enjoyed whenever he visited me at TU Berlin. I also enjoyed my trips to Zielona Gora -- because of the many interesting discussions we had and, above all, because Krzysztof was such a nice, caring and entertaining person. Krzysztof, you will be missed.

Hearing about Professor Krzysztof Gałkowski\'s passing deeply saddened me. His exceptional work in electronics and electrical engineering was truly influential. What made him stand out wasn\'t just his extensive list of publications and citations, but his palpable enthusiasm and passion for his field of study.

Professor Gałkowski was a beacon of inspiration and a mentor to many, not just a renowned scientist. His ability to simplify complex ideas and the excitement in his voice when discussing new research was truly admirable. His passing leaves a void not only in academia but also in the hearts of all who knew him.

During this difficult time, my thoughts go out to his family, friends, and co-workers. We\'ve lost not only an intellectual giant but a genuinely good soul. His impact and the memories he created will continue to resonate with all of us.

I collaborated with Krzysztof over the last few years in the field of multidimensional systems theory. He was such a dynamic person, full of humour, very kind and helpful on a personal level. He enjoyed travelling and exploring other cultures. I retain wonderful memories of him when he visited me together with his wife Ewa in 2015 in Muscat (Oman). My heartfelt condolences for all those who knew Krzysztof and my deepest sympathy to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who worked with him.

It was a terribly shock for me to hear the tragic news of Krzysztof's passing, as we just published a joint paper not long before and were still going to do something further. It was really a deep sadness that he left us so early and so suddenly. I would like to thank Krzysztof for his warm friendship of many years, since we met each other for the first time in 1998 at the first NDS workshop. Please rest in peace, my dear friend. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Prof. Krzysztof Galkowsi and remember him as a scientist of worldwide reputation, a gentle person and a pleasant colleague. Beyond his numerous scientific achievements, he had the ability to connect people across boundaries between different fields of science and engineering as well as across boundaries between countries and continents. He will be truely missed.

I am extremely deeply saddened by the death of prof. Gałkowski. From my earliest days at the University of Zielona Góra, He was my scientific Mentor and later became my true Friend. I will deeply miss His advice and great sense of humor. He was a truly Great Man, who, on one hand knew His value and on the other hand allowed everyone around Him to grow.

I also have to stress that prof. Gałkowski was one of the most Truly Respected people that I know of.

Rest in peace, Krzysztof. You will be missed.

Będzie nam go bardzo brakowało. Rodzinie Krzysztofa składamy najszczersze wyrazy współczucia.

Our collaboration began in the late 1990s. Krzysztof, like us, was working on nD circuits, in particular iterative processes. It was a wonderful time, extremely fruitful scientifically. The results inspired by the research of Krzysztof and his group were published in several papers published in our team, as Krzysztof used to say - the \'Lodz gang\'. Krzysztof was also a great organiser of scientific life. Conferences organised by him were extremely valuable scientifically and were perfectly prepared and very pleasant socially. He was a warm and kind man, always ready to cooperate and help. We will miss him greatly. To the family of Krzysztof we express our deepest sympathy.
